Life Transitions

Adjusting to a “new normal” can be challenging and sometimes confusing. Routine is safe and secure, while change may be feel terrifying due to fear of the unknown. This may hit home for you especially considering the health crisis we are currently enduring.  When have you ever experienced a pandemic? If it feels difficult, know that those feelings are completely valid and you are entitled to feel that way. Maybe before or even during this difficult time, other adjustments such as divorce, becoming a new parent, having to take care of elderly parents, changing jobs, change in employment status, relocating, starting a new program of study, retirement, or a medical diagnosis have emerged and this can be overwhelming and create difficult emotions. You may doubt yourself and wonder whether this is how you are meant to move in this next journey in your life. Let’s face it — it’s not easy adjusting to a new reality regardless of what that new change may be.

Even when the change is perceived as being for the better, such as the birth of a child, getting a promotion or moving to a new and exciting city, there may still be a range of emotions that you may have to grapple with. Rest assure that these feelings are completely normal as you adjust to a new change.

Therapy can help you make sense of this new situation and provide a space where you can talk about your doubts and worries without the fear of being judged. We will work collaboratively to help you gain insight and determine what you need to adapt, thrive and cultivate joy while you maneuver this new stage in your life. Evolve into your best self today!
